Press Release: Appointment of the Chief Executive Officer for Justice

Mrs. Mele Tupou Vaitohi, of Lofanga Ha'apai and Houma Tongatapu has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry of Justice. Mrs. Vaitohi's employment by Government is for a period of three (3) years with effect from 17 July, 2015.

She has a Masters Degree in Law from Queen Mary, University of London; a Professional Diploma in Legal Practice; and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Law - both from the University of the South Pacific.

Her career in the public service began in 2003 as Legal Officer for the Ministry of Justice, Tonga.  She was then seconded to work at the Crown Law Department between 2005 and 2009. She later joined the Office of the Public Service Commission in January, 2010 as Principal Assistant Secretary. Later on the same year, she joined the Office of the Legislative Assembly of Tonga as Clerk Assistant then Deputy Clerk. Mrs. Tupou Vaitohi has come back to the public service after serving as a Lecturer at the School of Law, The University of the South Pacific.

 

The Public Service Commission welcomes Ms. Mele Tupou Vaitohi's appointment as Chief Executive Officer for the Ministry of Justice and wishes her all the best in her professional careers.
